Description:
This package consists of three applications and a directory of example
sound samples. The applications are:
AMFTrack 1.10 18/02/92 A.M.Flintham - Create Tracker files
GetSTmod 2.03 20/07/91 M.Farrow - Convert between Tracker and Soundtracker
STtoRhap 1.00 18/03/91 M.D.George - Soundtracker to Rhapsody conversion
AMFTracker is a music editor that allows the creation of Tracker files.
These are commonly to be found in Public Domain Libraries, and provide
the music for most demos. Tracker files have a filetype of CB6 and are
not to be confused with the older format, SoundTracker files, which
AMFTracker cannot edit, but can be converted using M.Farrows !GetSTMod.
There are many Public Domain players that have been written to play
SoundTracker/Tracker files, of these, the AMFsoft !STracker is
recommended as it allows the saving of Tracker samples.
GetSTMod is intended to allow the easy conversion between Tracker and
Amiga Soundtracker format music modules on the desktop. To convert a
module, drag it from the filer window (or another application) onto the
!GetSTMod icon or the status window, and it will be loaded, and its
format automatically detected. If a tracker module is dragged on, there
is an option on the save submenu to save the tune as 'patterns'. This
is intended for use with soundtracker playback programs which use
stripped modules, and the difference is that the samples are not saved
on the end of the pattern data as normal.
STtoRhap takes a SoundTracker Module or Song and generates a Rhapsody
format file. The conversion process is geared towards the use of the
Rhapsody file via MIDI, and the current version is tailored for the
requirements of the author's own MIDI equipment (Yamaha PSR-48). This
primarily affects the handling of Percussion/Rhythm instruments. The
Yamaha allocates a single MIDI channel for reception of all Rhythm data
with the pitch of the received note determining the instrument.
